In the 1840s, physician and inventor Dr John Gorrie of Florida has proposed the idea of cooling cities to get relief from higher temperature. He had a vision that through cooling we can fight different diseases, furthermore we can comfort human lives and this can also help patients in the hospitals. According to his vague idea ice was required from frozen lakes of Florida USA. Since it was an expensive idea so he started thinking of artificial cooling. He designed a machine, a compressor and it was granted a patent for it in 1851. Unfortunately, he could not bring this revolutionary machine to market because his chief financial backer was died during his experimentation trials. After several years, Engr willis carried the work of Dr John Gorrie which led him to the invention of first modern electrical air conditioning unit; since willis was working with Buffalo Forge company in 1902, he also solved the problem of humidity; After working for days and nights willis designed a system which could either humidify (by heating water) or dehumidify (by cooling water) air which further led him to invent automatic control system for regulating the humidity and temperature of air in textile mills. Engr willis carrier, a 25-year- old experimental engineer, created a primitive cooling system to reduce humidity around the printer. He used an industrial fan to blow air over steam coils filled with cold water; the excess humidity would then condense on the coils and produce cooled air. Not only did it solve the problem, but the cool air started to make people comfortable.
